Smyrna Wright
I am co-founder of Hairstory Rooted inc. a community development initiative for youth. I have also founded several initiatives that support the development of underserved young people in Toronto. I followed my passion and became a child and youth advocate, particularly, in mental health.
This love for the work I do has exposed me to the disparities experienced, particularly in mental health, by youth of African Descent. I am a recent graduate of Ryerson University with a degree in Arts and Contemporary Studies majoring in Equity & Diversity, minoring in Caribbean Studies and Sociology. I will use my education and lived experiences to strengthen the leadership to build infrastructure for youth development.
